Book a guided Yellowfish day on the Vaal.
Anglers are already planning the new Yellowfish season. Send your preferred date and backup date for a focused guided day covering safe wading, river reading, fly choice, nymphing systems and drift control. This is a date request only — availability, river conditions, venue access and the complete cost are confirmed before you decide whether to proceed.
Choose the trip. Send the dates. We handle the river plan.
This is the quickest route from researching Yellowfish fishing to securing a guided day. Select the September Season Opener, a standard guided day or the October Masterclass, add your preferred and backup dates, and tell Shayne what you want to learn.
Submitting the form does not commit you to a booking or payment. Shayne first confirms availability, conditions, the venue plan and any separate access or permit fee, so you know the complete cost before deciding.
Choose your trip and request your date.
Choose the trip that suits you, then send your preferred date and backup date. Shayne checks availability, river flows, venue access and safety, and normally replies the same day. This form is a request only — no payment or commitment is made on this page.

The First Yellow of Spring.
Book a guided September Yellowfish day at the normal rate. The first 10 fully paid September bookings each receive one draw entry. One of those first 10 qualifying entries will win a fly box filled with a custom-tied selection of Vaal River flies. One entry applies per booking, whether the booking is for one or two anglers. Any separate venue or permit fee is confirmed before payment.
Masterclass Nymphing on the Vaal River.
The first 10 individual anglers who have their October date confirmed and paid receive the discounted rate of R1,800 per person. Maximum two clients per day. Learn fly selection, reading the river, casting techniques and more. If the discounted places are filled, you will be contacted before any standard-rate option is discussed — you will not be moved automatically.

Quick answers
- Is the form a confirmed booking?
- No. It is a date request only. Shayne confirms availability, the river plan and the complete cost before you decide whether to proceed.
- How quickly will I hear back?
- Booking requests are normally answered the same day by WhatsApp or email.
- Are beginners welcome?
- Yes. The day is adapted to your experience and confidence. Because this is a wading trip, reasonable balance and mobility are required.
- Do I need my own gear?
- Anglers normally bring a rod, reel, line, waders and suitable river boots. Tell Shayne what you currently have and he will confirm what is suitable before you commit or pay.
- Are there any extra venue costs?
- A venue access or permit fee may apply separately. The exact amount and complete cost are confirmed with you in writing before payment.
- What happens if the river is unsuitable?
- Shayne assesses flow, clarity, access and wading safety. If conditions are unsafe or genuinely unfishable, rescheduling comes first; if a suitable replacement date cannot be arranged, a full refund applies.
Clear terms before you book.
The form itself is a date request only. These policies keep the process clear and apply when you accept the confirmed plan and make payment.
Confirmation first
We confirm flows, venue access and a safe plan before payment is requested.
Complete cost first
The guided rate and any separate venue or permit fee are confirmed before payment.
Conditions & refunds

Read full booking policies
1) Booking confirmation & full payment
- Bookings are only confirmed once Shayne has confirmed the conditions and full payment has been received.
- Please do not make payment unless you have written confirmation by WhatsApp or email of your date, river plan and payment amount.
- Full payment is required after flows, venue access and safety have been checked.
- Your booking date is secured only once the full payment has been received.
2) Cancellations & refunds
If you need to cancel, WhatsApp as soon as possible.
- Payments may be refunded in accordance with the terms below.
- Rescheduling your trip date will be our first option; if that does not work out, a full refund will apply.
- No-shows: no refund.
If flows or conditions are unsafe, we prioritise rescheduling rather than forcing a risky day.
3) September season-opening draw
- The first 10 September 2026 bookings that are confirmed and fully paid each receive one entry into the draw.
- Entries are counted per booking, not per angler. A booking for two anglers receives one entry.
- One of the first 10 qualifying entries will win one fly box filled with a custom-tied selection of Vaal River flies. The prize is not exchangeable for cash.
- The winner will be selected after all 10 qualifying entries have been filled, or shortly after 30 September 2026, whichever happens first.
- The winner will be contacted using the details supplied with the booking.
4) October Masterclass special
- The discounted R1,800 rate applies to the first 10 individual anglers whose October date has been confirmed and full payment received.
- Places are counted per individual angler, with a maximum of two clients per day.
- A form submission requests a date but does not reserve a discounted place.
- If discounted places have been filled, Shayne will contact you before discussing a standard-rate booking. You will not be moved automatically.
5) River conditions
- The Vaal is a wading river trip — flows and clarity matter for safety and effectiveness.
- Shayne assesses flow, clarity, venue access and wading safety before the trip.
- If conditions are unsafe or genuinely unfishable, rescheduling is the first option. If a suitable replacement date cannot be arranged, a full refund applies.
- Safe but challenging fishing conditions do not automatically qualify for cancellation or refund.
6) Safety, risk & age requirement
- Trips are 16+ only.
- Participation is at your own risk. Wading involves current, rocks and uneven footing.
- Immersive Angling is not liable for injuries, accidents, or loss/damage to personal equipment.
- Please disclose medical issues or injuries that could affect mobility or balance.
7) Venue access, permits & travel
- Venues or sections are selected based on flows, access and safety.
- Any venue entry fee or permit is separate unless explicitly stated and is paid to the venue.
- The exact venue or permit amount and complete trip cost will be confirmed in writing before payment is requested.
- Clients are responsible for travel to the agreed meeting point unless arranged otherwise.
8) Gear responsibility
- Anglers normally bring their own wading gear, rod, reel and lines unless agreed otherwise.
- Tell Shayne what equipment you currently have if you are unsure; he will confirm what is suitable before the booking is secured.
- You are responsible for the safety and condition of your own equipment.
9) Catch expectations
Fishing success varies. We can’t guarantee fish catches, but we do guarantee honest effort, coaching and the best plan for the conditions on the day.
10) Payments
- Payments are processed via third-party providers such as PayFast. Immersive Angling does not store card details.
- Use your surname and trip date in the payment reference where requested.
