- The Vaal is a wading river, so flow, clarity, water temperature and safe access matter. Checking conditions first keeps the booking practical and avoids forcing poor or unsafe dates.
- Is September a good time to start planning?
- Yes. September is when the Vaal River Yellowfish season usually starts building as water warms. Current winter status is red, so use July and August for planning and watch September dates.
- Can beginners book a Vaal River guided day?
- Yes, beginners can book if they are comfortable being on their feet and wading in moving water. The day can be paced around safe movement, casting basics and simple drift control.
- How many anglers can join?
- Guided Vaal River sessions are kept small, with a maximum of two anglers. This keeps the day safer and allows more focused coaching.
- Do I need my own gear?
- Ideally yes. Bring your rod, reel, floating line, leaders, tippet, waders if needed and proper wading boots. If you are unsure, send Shayne a list or photo of your gear before the trip.

- No honest guide can guarantee fish. The value of the day is better decisions, safer wading, improved tactics, coaching and the best possible plan for the conditions.

- Trips are planned around suitable Vaal River sections near Parys, Lindequesdrift and Potchefstroom, depending on flow, clarity, access and the safest fishable water.
