Yes — bring your own rod, reel, lines and proper wading gear (waders + boots with grip). If unsure, share what you have and we’ll advise before the day.

Can complete beginners book?

Yes, beginners are welcome, but you need to be comfortable wading over uneven rocks in current. If you’re nervous, we can structure the day around safer water and skill building.

What fitness level do I need?

Expect a full day on your feet, walking and wading through current and rocks. Basic fitness and balance help a lot. Share injuries or limitations so the day can be planned accordingly.

What if the river is too high or dirty?

If flows or water quality are unsafe or unfishable, we’ll look at alternative dates or stretches and prioritize rescheduling rather than forcing an unsafe or poor day.

Terms, Refunds & Policies

This section keeps things clear and fair for both anglers and guide. By requesting a booking or paying a deposit, you agree to the policies below.

We confirm flows, venue access and a safe plan before any payment is requested.

Safety & conditions

Unsafe/high flows may require rescheduling.

Fishing isn’t guaranteed

Guiding improves chances, but catches vary by flows and angler skill.

1) Booking confirmation & deposits

• Bookings are only confirmed once Shayne confirms conditions and the deposit/payment is received.
• Please do not pay a deposit unless you have written confirmation (WhatsApp/email) of your date and plan.
• Deposit terms (50% or full payment for a single client) are confirmed after we’ve checked flows, venue access and safety.
• The remaining balance is due before the trip date or as communicated during confirmation.

2) Cancellations & refunds

If you need to cancel, WhatsApp as soon as possible. Refunds/changes are handled as follows:

• All deposits and payments may be refunded. See below
• Rescheduling your trip date will be our 1st option, if that does not workout a 50% refund will apply.
• No-shows: no refund.

Note: If flows/conditions are unsafe, we prioritise rescheduling rather than forcing a risky day.

3) River conditions (flows, visibility, safety)

• The Vaal is a wading river trip — flows and clarity matter for safety and effectiveness.
• If water is unsafe/unfishable (high flows, dangerous wading, severe weather), the trip may be rescheduled.
• Typical “not perfect” river conditions do not automatically qualify for a refund.

4) Safety, risk & age requirement

• Trips are 16+ only.
• Participation is at your own risk. Wading involves current, rocks, and uneven footing.
• Immersive Angling is not liable for injuries, accidents, or loss/damage to personal equipment.
• Please disclose medical issues or injuries that could affect mobility or balance.

5) Venue access, permits & travel

• Venues/sections (Parys, Lindequesdrift, Potchefstroom) are selected based on flows, access and safety.
• Any venue entry fees/permits are excluded unless explicitly stated, and are paid to the venue.
• Clients are responsible for travel to the agreed meeting point unless arranged otherwise.

6) Gear responsibility

• Anglers bring their own wading gear (waders + grippy boots), rod/reel/lines unless agreed otherwise.
• You are responsible for the safety and condition of your own equipment.

7) Catch expectations

Fishing success varies. We can’t guarantee fish catches, but we do guarantee honest effort, coaching, and the best plan for the conditions on the day.

8) Payments

• Payments are processed via third-party providers (e.g., PayFast) or by direct EFT. Immersive Angling does not store card details.
• Use your surname + trip date in the payment reference where requested.

9) Privacy (POPIA)

We use your details only for booking, trip communication, and record keeping. We do not sell your personal information.
